Our Mission:

Pequeno Studios (PS) is a visionary media company designed to nurture young Latino artists and podcasters in Los Angeles. Drawing inspiration from Stocker Street Creative's community-focused model for the Black community, PS adapts this successful framework to serve Latino creatives.

With a 3,000-square-foot space housing multiple podcast sets, music production facilities, and video editing suites, LCH will become the premier destination for Latino content creators seeking to develop their skills, monetize their work, and build a supportive community.

Problem:

Despite Latinos comprising 48% of LA County's population (4.8 million people), they remain significantly underrepresented in media ownership and production. LCH targets approximately 500,000 young Latino creatives aged 18-35, with an estimated 50,000 potential users or attendees, alongside local businesses and brands seeking to reach the Latino market.

Market Size and Opportunity:

The podcasting industry continues to boom, with 144 million U.S. listeners in 2024 and an annual growth rate of 10%. Los Angeles stands at the center of media innovation, boasting a $2.5 billion creative economy according to LAEDC's 2023 report.

About Pequeno Studios:

Founded by an experienced podcaster with a successful YouTube channel, PS will leverage proven expertise to guide emerging talent through the complexities of content creation and audience building, while fostering a vibrant creative community through events and seminars.

Funding Request:

$282,000 to cover a one-year lease, studio setup, equipment, staffing, and initial operations.

Pequeño Studios (PS) is a media studio and mentorship space in Los Angeles designed specifically for young Latino content creators, including podcasters, musicians, and video artists. We provide professional-grade equipment, studio rentals, and education to empower Latino voices in media.

Although Latinos make up nearly half of Los Angeles' population, they are underrepresented in media production and ownership. PS bridges that gap by offering affordable access to resources and support to help Latino creatives build sustainable media careers.

3. How will the funds be used?
Your contributions will go toward our first-year lease, studio buildout (soundproofing, set design), purchasing production equipment, hiring part-time staff, and marketing. We’re raising $250,000 total, with $20,000 coming specifically from this crowdfunding campaign.

4. What services will the studio offer?
We offer podcast set rentals, music recording, video filming/editing, one-on-one mentorship, educational seminars, and community events. Prices are kept accessible—for example, podcast set rentals start at $75/hour or $500/month.

5. Who is behind this project?
PS was founded by Angee Smallz, an experienced podcaster and YouTube creator who’s already built a loyal audience and knows how to turn content into a thriving business. Her mission is to share that knowledge with the next generation.

6. Will this be open to the public?
Yes! Creators can rent space, attend events, book mentorship sessions, or simply join the community. We welcome all allies, but our focus is on uplifting young Latino creators.

7. What do backers receive?
Backers may receive perks like discounted studio time, early access to events, acknowledgment on our Founders Wall, or branded merchandise—depending on their level of support.

8. How soon will the studio launch?
We plan to secure our lease and complete the buildout within the first two months after funding. A soft launch follows in month 3, with a full public launch and events starting in month 4.
